The current incarnations of Ratchwood and Wicklow are not the only versions that have ever existed. Between the years 2010 and 2014, I collaborated with artist Nigel Maughan (formerly of the Viz) and occasional colourist Terry Lloyd on an embryonic Ratchwood Prophecy. Several elements of the story had yet to be developed and other elements were given a disproportionate amount of attention but it was a significant step in bringing the current slant on the character into focus.
I recently revisited this segment of my legacy, and despite Ratchwood & Wicklow looking entirely different and the final product being of significantly less quality, it makes quite a good read as a prequel to the work I’ve been doing with Brian.
The Ratchwood Prophecy along with States of Mind (a twisted anthology comic) and Organic-ised Chaos (The Tale of The Rabbi-Captain) were the titles published under the name Occupational Hazard Comics in this period. They can be printed to order from an online publisher whose name escapes me at the moment. It is a priority for me, when I remember this vital detail, to inform the Ratchworld where they can be obtained.
